Workshop on writing and reviewing scientific articles

Getting published is one of the most important skills young academics need to develop in order to boost their careers. Publishing is one central means of communicating with the scientific world, and universities world-wide put more and more emphasise on the number of published articles, impact factors, highly ranked journals and citation indeces. For many young scholars the review process can seem difficult and frustrating, and the feedback from reviewers can sometimes be de-motivating.

This CIYA workshop aims at facilitating a process that introduces the participants to how scientific journals assess papers and how the review process is organised. A presentation will be given by an experienced researcher on how to write scientific articles with the aim to get published in scientific journals. In addition the participants will receive feedback on their manuscripts they have submitted for the workshop, and train to review the work of other participants.

Benefits for participants

By taking part in this workshop you will get practical knowledge about how scientific journals assess manuscripts, and how you as an author could improve your manuscript in order to get it accepted in and through the review process. You will also get specific feedback on a manuscript you plan to submit to a journal from peers in CIYA, which hopefully will improve your chances to get the paper published.

In addition, you will get access to the CIYA network of other young academics facing the same challenges as you in your early career development, presentations of recent themes and topics in continuous innovation, and socialisation with peers.
