2004

Mats Magnusson is visiting professor at Luiss Guido Carli University in Rome, Italy, from September 2004 to June 2005. During this period, he will undertake joint research projects with colleagues at Luiss on different research topics, e.g Open Source Software firms, implementation of e-governance, and firm capabilities. Furthermore, he will be teaching at the PhD and MBA programs at Luiss.

During their visit to Australia last September, "international experts" John Bessant and Harry Boer were interviewed by an Australian TV station for a short news item in one of their television programmes. The interview has been broadcasted and can be viewed here (please note: it is a 12MB file ...).

Professor Ross Chapman has been appointed as Associate Dean (Research) for the College of Law and Business at the University of Western Sydney.

The Center for Industrial Production (CIP) at Aalborg University has strengthened its research and teaching within the area of industrial innovation by appointing Frank Gertsen as Professor of Innovation Management. This five-year position is co-funded by Industriens Realkredit Fond and The Faculty of Engineering and Science.

Professor Paul Hyland believes his professorial role is leadership. Recently promoted to Professor, Paul Hyland takes his new role seriously. "My professorial leadership area is in research and research output, that is publication in journals and conference proceedings, and in attracting external research funding to Central Queensland University." he said. "My job is to help staff who do not have the necessary skills set to publish their research". "Being involved in writing with staff, editing or encouraging them to write the paper themselves and helping them identify the appropriate outlet for the publication - this is a critical part of my role.

2003

Excellence in Networking.
Paul Hyland, Jose Gieskes and Mats Magnusson have received a commendation for their paper Organisational Learning Barriers in Distributed Product Development: Observations from a Multi-National Corporation, 2002 Journal of Workplace Learning, vol 14 No 8, pp 310-319.
Only three papers from the 2002 volume receive a commendation so this is an excellent outcome for researchers involved in the CIMA project. It is also an example of the benefits of international collaboration which is central to working in the CINet Network. A .pdf file of the paper is placed at our disposal by Emerald and can be downloaded here (only for CINet members).

Prof. John Bessant, Innovator in Residence at University of Queensland has spent some time with CI researchers at Central Queensland University. As well as extensive discussions with staff John savored the unique delights of The Beef Capital of Australia Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast. As always he was keen to observe many local business operations including the Gracemere Saleyards, Queensland busiest cattle yards, the Koorana Crocodile Farm, an award winning exporter. John under the guidance of Paul Hyland also visited some of the regions top tourism businesses including, The Great Western Hotel and rodeo ring, Rydges Capricorn Resort and Great Keppel.
