On the 25th January 2010, the 3rd annual workshop for CINet Young Academics (CIYA) was held in at Sønderborg, Denmark. The workshop was designed to facilitate the development of one of the research proposals suggested during the 2nd CIYA workshop in Brisbane in September 2009). Focussing on Absorptive Capacity (ACAP), the participants spent the day with presentations, brainstorming sessions and discussions.
The ambition of the workshop was to refine the design of the initial project idea developed in Brisbane and to fill more content into the framework of Absorptive Capacity.
The major outcomes from the workshop were:
- Theoretical positioning of the project.
- The development of content and aspects of the different phases of the ACAP concept.
Based on the discussions at the CIYA workshop the participants also plan to submit an abstract related to the theme to the 11th CINet conference in Zürich in September this year.
The ambition of the group is to design a research project aiming at investigating absorptive capacity via a multi-level approach. The group will also investigate the possibilities of applying for funding for this initiative.
Thank you to Alex da Mota Pedrosa at University of Southern Denmark for taking the initiative to and for organising the workshop in a professional way, and for providing an excellent venue in Sønderborg. Thanks also to the participants for constructive contributions and pleasant company.
