Un-magic the machine! Why we need to make Artificial Intelligence more understandable

Martina Mara is a tech psychologist and was appointed Professor of Robopsychology at JKU's Linz Institute of Technology (LIT) in 2018. Her research focuses on psychological conditions of human-centered technology and interdisciplinary research strategies. She is a co-founder of the Initiative Digitalisierung Chancengerecht (IDC), a board member of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), and has been recognized for her work with awards such as the Vienna Women's Prize, a Futurezone Award, and a Käthe Leichter Prize.

Strategic Foresight for driving desirable Futures

René Rohrbeck is Professor of Strategy and Director of the Chair for Foresight, Innovation, and Transformation at EDHEC Business School, one of the top 10 business schools in Europe. He holds the UNESCO Chair for Organizational Anticipation, Resilient Leadership and Educational Innovation. He is best known for his research on future preparedness of organizations.

He has developed the Future FITness model, which measures the ability of organizations to use foresight to drive innovation and transformation. With his colleagues he has benchmarked organizations for over 15 years, develops methods on foresight and strategy development under uncertainty and advises companies, governmental agencies and NGOs on building strategic foresight capabilities.

Mathias Farthofer is Head of Corporate Development of voestalpine Group since 2014. Before that, he was Head of Strategy of voestalpine Steel Division, he joined the company in 2013. Mathias previously worked at BMW Group for more than a decade, also in various senior positions, including long-term corporate planning.

Karin Gabriel is Innovation & Foresight Manager at TGW Logistics Group. She has 15 years of international experience building, designing, and delivering global programs focused on innovation, start-ups, and (emerging) technologies. She joined TGW in April 2023, leading the set-up of Innovation and Foresight.
