John Bessant Best Paper Award 2013

The John Bessant Best Conference Paper Award of the 14th CINet conference, recently held in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, was won by Magnus Bergendahl and his co-author Mats Magnusson for their paper “Networking Distance and Knowledge Creation in Ideation”. The paper focuses on one of the key aspects of innovation, namely idea creation, and was selected by a committee consisting of Harry Boer (Aalborg), Patricia Wolf (Lucerne) and Klaasjan Visscher (Twente and editor of Creativity and Innovation Management). The committee praised the relevance of the research, the readability of the paper, the rigor of the research design, the robustness of the findings and, especially, the in-depth discussion and clear contribution of the paper to existing theory.
